The Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between Madison Area Technical College and
Wuhan Polytechnic has been signed by representatives from both parties
From April 3rd to 5th, Ms. Turina Renee Bakken(the Director of Madison Area Technical College), Mr. Bryan Michael Woodhouse(the Dean of the Department of Business and Applied Arts), Ms. Denise Marie Reimer(the Dean of the Department of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology), and Mr. Geoffrey Wayne Bradshaw(the Director of International Education) paid a visit to Wuhan Polytechnic for 3 days. Based on sufficient communication in the early stage, this visit aimed for an in-depth discussion on the cooperation intents in the areas of teacher and student exchanges, teacher training and language training.The final goal for the visit was to sign theMOU and officially establish the partnership.
In the morning of April 4th, Li Hongqu, President of Wuhan Polytechnic, and Xu Gongjin, the Vice President of Wuhan Polytechnic, cordially met with the guests. President Li introduced the general situation and philosophy of schooling in an all-round way, with focuses on specialty setting, school-enterprise cooperation, enrollment and employment, international cooperation and exchange, and personnel training. He said that WHPT had attached great importance to establishing cooperative relations with Madison Area Technical College, hoping that the visit would strengthen the bilateral communication and understanding. Headded that signing the MOU for cooperation would consolidate the ties between two colleges, deepen mutual exchanges and cooperation, and further push the progress of relevant cooperation projects. Ms. Turina Renee Bakken, the representative from Madison Area Technical College, expressed her gratitude to WHPT for the hospitality and the extensive preparatory work and showed her confidence in the prospects of cooperation. After the introduction made by Mr. Geoffrey Wayne Bradshaw over the history and concept of school running, the specialty, employment and furthereducation, and international cooperation program, the two sides made detailed discussion on the issues of common interest and reached a preliminary intent on cooperation. Based on that, President Li and Ms.Turina Renee Bakken formally singned a Memorandum of Undersanding for Cooperation between Madison Area Technical College and Wuhan Polytechnic.
From the afternoon of April 4th to April 5th, accompanied by the staff from the Department of International Relations,the guests paid a visit to the School of Foreign language and Foreign Trade, Art and Design, Tourism and Aviation Services, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Information Engineering, and Textile and Garment Engineering, observing the experimental training facilities and classroom teaching. Besides, they also made intimate communication with the faculty in charge, specialized course teachers and students from those schools.

In the afternoon of April 7th, Xu Gongjin, vice president of Wuhan Polytechnic,accompanied by personnel from the Department of International Relations, attended a reception meeting with the American Madison Area Technical College organized by the Ministry of Education in Beijing. Mr. Xu, together with the representatives from the United States, made a report to Zhou Wei, the Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education, on the cooperation and exchanges between the two colleges.

Founded in 1912, it delivers vocational skills training to more than 40,000 students every year. The college is committed to offering students with convenient, high-quality and affordable education, meeting the needs of students, communities and regional employers. The programs they offer mainly aim to help students gain associate degree in liberal arts or science, related technical diploma or certificate, and top-up courses.
