Jiang Hui, director of the Department of International Relations, and Geoffrey had an in-depth discussion on further cooperation between the two sides. Teachers of the School of Art Design from Wuhan Polytechnic made a detailed plan for the American guests to attend courses on Chinese calligraphy and pottery-making in order to experience Chinese traditional culture.
Michael and Phillip attended two studio classes for the 2016 Environmental Art majors on March 12 to observe the students’ project scheme presentation on West Campus Renovation Project of Wuhan Polytechnic, and had mutual communication with Environmental Art majors on effective renovation design. The American representatives appreciated the photograph works on Chinese classical paintings of “the Steps”, “Night Revels of Han Xizai” and “Spring Dawn in the Han Palace” very much. They hoped that they can take these back to the United States for the students to appreciate and learn.

As is reported by WHPT teachers, under the philosophy of Getting Closer to Nature, Respecting Tradition and Acquiring Knowledge, the Art Design School has been insisting on carrying out project teaching in curriculum design by integrating excellent traditional cultural elements into modern art design to encourage students to design arts with cultural “roots” including the human material cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages of different regions. American representatives praised the cultural inheritance and cultural confidence contained in the art works.
Teachers from both sides conduct professional seminars
Dean Duan Linjie and Vice Dean Xia Guangwei of the School of Art Design hoped that the teachers and students of the School of Art Design in both sides would develop more exchanges to visit, learn and exchange cultures with each other.
