Wuhan Polytechnic Won the 2018 World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics Excellence Award

WHPT Web News (correspondent Zhang Ziyi) From October 8th to 10th, the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) 2018 Global Conference was held in Melbourne, Australia.The conference announced the winners of the 2018 Excellence Awards. Wuhan Polytechnic (WHPT) won the Silver Award in the 2018 WFCP Excellence Awards - Student Support Service Program.

The theme of this World Conference is Act Now, Prepare for the Future, attended by nearly 800 representatives from all over the world. At the meeting, Mr. Shen Xuesong, deputy secretary-general of the China Education Association for International Exchange, was elected as the vice chairman of the WFCP. Many representatives of the higher vocational colleges of the Chinese delegation gave keynote speeches and shared China's development experience and results in higher vocational education with vocational education institutions around the world.

On the afternoon of October 8, Mr. Li Wangyun, vice president of WHPT, gave a speech on Building a Quality Development Curriculum System and Strengthening Comprehensive Vocational Ability Training at the Student Support Service” thematic forum, and introduced the internationalization of our school to experts and scholars from all over the world. It showed the experience and achievements in the construction of the quality development curriculum system and the comprehensive vocational ability training of the students, and sent an invitation to the delegates to visit and exchange with our college. On the evening of October 9, Mr. Li Wangyun attended the award ceremony of the WFCP Awards on behalf of WHPT and won the award.

The WFCP Excellence Awards were first established in 2014 and are selected every two years. The awards include seven awards: Promoting Learning and Employment, Applied Research and Innovation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Educational Sustainable Development, Advanced Technical Skills, Leadership Development and Student Support Services. Each award is divided into gold, silver and bronze medals. A total of 21 institutions from all over the world have won the awards. The Chinese delegation was organized by the China Education  Association for International Exchange of the China Ministry of Education. The members were composed of 52 representatives from 32 higher vocational colleges in China, and won a total award of 1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze.

After the WFCP in 2018, the Chinese delegation held a bilateral seminar with the Victorian Government of Australia to hold the "Connect China" education exhibition in the exhibition area. From October 11th to 13th, the Chinese delegation visited the Waitoka Institute of Technology in New Zealand and participated in the 2018 China-New Zealand Vocational Education Forum” with the theme of Innovative and Entrepreneurial Institution Construction”. Academic exchanges and cooperation talks were conducted with the New Zealand Education Administration and experts and scholars from relevant institutes of science and technologies.
