Representatives from the Universiti of Sarawak Malaysia visited for exchange

On October 10, Dato'Dr Wong Say Ho,Chairman, UNIMAS Kuala Lumpur Learning Centre, and Dr.Puah Chin Hong,Chief Executive Officer, UNIMAS Business School, led a delegation to pay a visit to Wuhan Polytechnic. Zhang Ziyi, Director of the Department of International Relations warmly welcomed the guests.

Zhang Ziyi, on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to Dato'Dr Wong Say Ho and his delegation. He provided an overview of Wuhan Polytechnic’s educational achievements and its current efforts in international cooperation and exchanges. Zhang highlighted that Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, as a prestigious institution in Malaysia, boasts abundant educational resources. He emphasized the many similarities between the two institutions in terms of program offerings and educational philosophies. Zhang expressed hope for deeper collaboration between the two universities in areas such as student exchange, faculty interaction, academic advancement, and resource sharing. Such initiatives would provide students with valuable learning and exchange opportunities while creating better professional development prospects for faculty members.

Dato'Dr Wong Say Ho expressed his admiration for Wuhan Polytechnic’seducational philosophy and its achievements in advancing the internationalization of vocational education. He provided a detailed introduction to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and emphasized his hope to promote practical inter-university collaboration through this visit. He proposed signing a strategic cooperation agreement and actively initiating international project collaboration.

Representatives of the two sides negotiated and reached a consensus on the specific cooperation content of international programs. In the future, the two universities will sign a framework agreement as soon as possible to carry out specific cooperation in student exchanges, students' post-secondary bachelor's and master's degrees, and teachers' academic qualifications.

According to introduction, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was established in 1992 and is the eighth public university in Malaysia, located in Sarawak, East Malaysia, Malaysia, and is the largest and first-ranked comprehensive university in eastern Malaysia, with a 2024 world QS ranking of 1001-1200 (equivalent to China's "211 Project University"). Universiti Malaysia Sarawak consists of 10 faculties, 13 research centres and 7 research institutes including Resource Science and Technology, Computer Science and Information Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences, with a total of 11,763 students.
