PART.01 Delving into Classroom Learning: Diverse Courses Empower Study Tour Growth

On August 3, the program opening ceremony was held at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Thian Hong Huat, Director of the university’s International Office, delivered the welcome address. From August 3 to 7, three series of courses were delivered sequentially: language enhancement, engineering and technology, and humanities and arts. The language courses adopted real‑life scenarios such as travel inquiries and academic seminars to help students break down language barriers. Dr. Then Yi Lung gave lectures on engineering practice, deepening low‑carbon concepts and fostering innovative thinking through an engineering design challenge. Dr. Ling Kek Ni offered humanities sessions focusing on cultural heritage and folk music, enabling participants to experience the multicultural roots of Borneo.

PART.02 In-depth Visit to Two Cities: Unlocking the Diverse Cultural Texture of Southeast Asia

Beyond classroom learning, the group savoured Nanyang‑style delicacies at TopSpot Food Centre and strolled along the Kuching Waterfront. They sampled ethnic snacks at the Kuching Food Festival and traced the humanistic history of Sarawak at the Borneo Cultural Museum. On August 8, the group visited the Sarawak Cultural Village, where traditional longhouses and hunting patterns embodied the wisdom of indigenous peoples. Participants joined local dance performances to immerse themselves in the vitality of native culture. “Multiculturalism is not merely a concept from textbooks. It is the daily reality where different ethnic groups thrive side‑by‑side on the same land and respect one another,” wrote Liu Rui, a student from the School of Architectural Engineering.

PART.03 Two-way Dialogue between Civilizations: Building a Vibrant Platform for Chinese Cultural Exchange

On August 6, a Chinese cultural experience event took place at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, drawing international students from multiple countries. Teachers accompanying the study group introduced Wuhan Technical University’s educational positioning, distinctive specialty clusters and ongoing international exchange development plans in English for overseas students. At the calligraphy station, student Liu Yunhan taught basic brush‑stroke techniques, and Chinese and foreign students jointly wrote the Chinese characters for “Peace”. At the paper‑cutting booth, Wu Huiling demonstrated cutting skills, creating ingots, snowflakes and rosette‑style paper‑cut artworks one after another.
